I've just gotten off of E! Online where I had a good laugh reading this article. Basically, the State of the Union Address air date is down to the finales with the dates between Jan. 26 and Feb. 2. Oh my lord. Based on the comments, it sounds like the end of the world will occur if the SOU is aired on Feb. 2--Lost's sixth and final season premiere date.
Now, I love my TV just as much as the next person and the people on the E! Online boards do. When the power in our house went out last year causing me to miss an episode of Supernatural, I was ready to kick ass. But, to say the president is an idiot for wanting to cut into Lost is a bit too extreme. The president has more things to care about whether or not he's interrupting a TELEVISION PROGRAM. And, considering all that's been going on with the failed airplane bombing on Christmas, the economy still acting up, and Yemen, I think hearing from the man in charge about what he plans to do with said issues trumps a fictional show. Will I be upset if the premiere is pushed back--because I don't see ABC allowing it to be preempted? Yes. Am I going to go all hysterical over it? No.
My favorite part is this quote from the article: "Steve McPherson loved the idea of launching the series on Groundhog Day [which is Feb. 2 this year]."
Lordy. If we believe Groundhog Day to be a movable holiday like Easter, we have bigger problems than Prez Obama interrupting Lost. I think it's time to turn off our TVs.
