Since I want to post more this year compared to last, you guys get a TBR pile post today! Yay! I'm still rocking the two piles and some of the books that were in my pile the last time remain. I've also got some books from the mad dash to visit every Borders in my area before they closed and my "haul" from Christmas. (I only received three books this year; one I've already read.)

Pile #1: Going Bovine by Libba Bray, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson, Battle Royale by Koushun Takami, Foundling and Lamplighter by D.M. Cornish, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, Everwild by Neal Shusterman, Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger, Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens

Pile #2: If I Die by Rachel Vincent, Soul Thief by Jana Oliver, Anastasia's Secret by Susanne Dunlap, Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins, Cinder by Marissa Meyer, Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I also have three books checked out from the library: The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson, Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick, and A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness.

To take a page from [livejournal.com profile] rhoda_rants, I'm determined to read all these books (or attempt to, Mr. Oliver Twist) by the end of the year. However, I do not have the fortitude to cut myself off from the library, so we shall see how well that goes.

Well, it finally happened. My TBR pile grew a twin. I know, I know, plenty of people have multiple TBR piles, but I've prided myself on keeping it down to one pile on my nightstand. Yeah...not so much anymore.

First Pile (from top to bottom): Going Bovine by Libba Bray, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Battle Royale by Koushun Takami, Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, Wither by Lauren DeStefano, and Across the Universe by Beth Revis

Second Pile (from top to bottom): Bite Me by Christopher Moore, My Soul to Steal by Rachel Vincent, Divergent by Veronica Roth, The Iron Thorn by Caitlin Kittredge, Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton, and Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld

Not pictured, I also checked out The Demon Trapper's Daughter by Jana Oliver and White Cat by Holly Black from the library--so obviously those will be read first. (Since I've started to check out more and more books from the library, that's how my reading pile split in two.)

Oh, and as of May 3, I've read 37 books.

Just because I'm being a writing fiend--or, at least, trying to be one--doesn't mean I don't have a looming stack of books next to my bed. ;)

Top to bottom: My Soul to Save and My Soul to Keep by Rachel Vincent, Once Dead, Twice Shy by Kim Harrison, Everlost by Neal Shusterman, City of Glass by Cassandra Clare, Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins, Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon, and Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

Not pictured, but I also have Becca Fitzpatrick's Crescendo, the sequel to Hush, Hush, in the TBR pile.

In case anyone is wondering, why yes, there is a theme among most of the books. And, why yes, that theme applies to my current WIP. Hopefully with the Get the Effin' Thing Done Challenge I can make this pile last to the holidays, upon which I'll get a slew of new books. The corner of my nightstand does not like to be empty; hence why I believe Amazon's 4-for-3 promotion on books was created by the Devil.
